Description

Cinnamon is a 10 to 15-meter tall tree. The spice comes from the innermost bark of the tree. Most trees
grow in the Sri Lanka area.

Usage

Cinnamon is used as a spice in both main courses, desserts, and sweets.In addition cinnamon is often used in dishes with apples.

History

Most cinnamon is grown in Sri Lanka, but it is also grown in Sumatra, Java, Brazil and in
Egypt. It was cinnamon that brought the Dutch to Sri Lanka, where they founded a trading station
in 1638.

Cinnamon is said to lower cholesterol levels.
