Description

Central America, as well as in the Caribbean.

Taste Characteristics

Allspice has a combined taste of cloves, peppers, cinnamon and muskat. Hence the name Allspice.

Usage

Allspice are used in co-cooked dishes, in baked goods and for pickling.

History

Everyone came to Europe in the 16th century after Columbus took the spice home to Spain.
At first, it was thought that it was a kind of pepper because the berries look like peppercorns.
